The CBS show, which is also being aired on ITV in the UK, has been faced with break-ups and arguments among the cast – but it’s not all drama. Last night’s episode saw a grand gesture filled with purple flower petals as one Islander asked another to become his girlfriend.
Johnny Middlebrooks and Cely Vazquez had eyes for each other as soon as he entered the villa. So is the Love Island couple still together? We explored social media in a quest to find out!

Judging by the couple going official on the most recent episode of Love Island and their updated social media accounts, Johnny and Cely are still together.
It has not been confirmed how far in advance the show is filmed in this season, but in previous years, each episode of Love Island has always been filmed two or three days before it is aired. So when they made it official, this would likely have only been several days ago.
There is also no announcement that Johnny and Cely have split. On Cely’s Instagram, it confirms that her and Johnny are “official” while on Johnny’s account, the key and heart emoji has been used under a picture of them both. However, they currently both don’t have access to social media so it is likely that whoever is editing their Instagram knows just as much as the show’s viewers.

The Love Island couple’s journey
Johnny and Cely hit it off when he entered the villa several days after the original contestants. However when he went to Casa Amor, he didn’t stay loyal to Cely and ended up kissing Mercades Schell. He confessed this to Cely on his return but didn’t tell her the entire truth.
Cely found out everything, including Johnny and Mercades going under the covers, from her then co-star Noah Purvis. Cely and Johnny managed to get past their issues – and he asked her to be his girlfriend in last night’s episode. She said yes and their co-stars cheered their relationship on!

Viewers had previously shared their anger when Johnny didn’t stay faithful in Casa Amor, and some have kept to their initial opinions. One fan said: “Ok so I’m on Episode #20 of #LoveIslandUSA and I gotta say NOT digging Johnny at all. Red flags all around with this dude. Cely deserves better.”
However things have changed around since he asked Cely to officially be with him.
