DO YOU think you can pass the hazard perception test if you took it again today?

Brits scored a poor four out of 10 on average in a makeshift Spot the Hazard quiz - with 70 per cent being the pass mark.

The test, which was put together by comparison site GoCompare, gave 2,000 participants five seconds to click on one hazard per question.

Only one person was able to score full marks, with drivers from the East Midlands performing best with 4.37 on average.

Londoners, on the other hand, scored 3.61 on average.

In terms of age, the 25-34 year old group were best, with the 18-24 year olds coming in second place.

AVERAGE SCORE PER REGION (OUT OF 10)

East Midlands - 4.37

South-West - 4.23

Scotland - 4.17

South-East - 4.14

Eastern - 4.11

West Midlands - 4.09

Wales - 4.06

Yorkshire & Humberside - 3.97

North-West - 3.95

Northern Ireland - 3.78

North-East - 3.61

London - 3.61

It's no surprise, however, that the 55-plus group performed worst, as the official Hazard Perception Test was only introduced in 2002.

It forms one of two parts of the DVSA Theory Tests, with the other being a multiple-choice quiz.

Students have to identify potential hazards from 14 video clips - as opposed to the still pictures in the quiz above.

All but one clip has a single 'developing hazard' to find in the DVSA test, with one containing two hazards.

MORE FROM MOTORS

Each correct spot is worth five points, and you only get one attempt at each clip.

You will score no points if found to be clicking continuously or in a pattern, however, you don't lose points if you get a click wrong.

The pass mark is 44, which equates to nine out of 14 hazards.
