A POLICE officer had to be cut free from the wreckage of a squad car after an early morning crash in South East London today.
Shocking photographs from the scene shows the marked police car badly damaged from the smash, with its roof having been cut off by rescue crews.

Luckily, both people involved escaped serious injury after the crash unfolded around 6am in Plumstead, Greenwich.
London Fire Brigade confirmed it was called to Kings Highway this morning to reports of a collision between two cars.
A spokesperson said: "One person in one of the vehicles was cut from the car."
The other car, believed to be a black Nissan, was also damaged in the crash.


Fire crews spent an hour at the scene.
One person who saw the aftermath of the crash tweeted: "Huge crash in Plumstead, with the bottom of Kings Highway closed off. Looks rather nasty."
A London Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed two people were treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

The A209 Wickham Lane was closed at the highway after the crash but has since reopened.
Motorists were warned to expect delays around the area.
